RSS Feeds and Libraries

"How can libraries use RSS or take advantage of this new technology?" 
 
A significant issue I have become aware of is the importance of library advocacy. The ALA and other library associations all participate in advocating for the value of libraries, the need for funding, and on legislative matters. Libraries also play an important part in the communities they serve. For all these reasons (and I'm sure more) libraries could take advantage of the communication value inherent in RSS feeds.
 
The Library of Congress has multiple RSS feeds. Theirs keeps people abreast of the latest news ranging from,...well it's too many to list here, but from news, events, topics, preservation, new books, music, poetry,and on and on.
