There is a group on the site called, "Librarians who Library Thing".
One way I will incorporate Library Thing into my professional practice is to become a member of the group because it is a great way to gauge trends, issues, and in general what other librarians are concerned with.
Especially, as a student I think there is a lot to be learned from reading librarians discussions. For example, I'm not certain if I want to focus on archives or public service libraries or academic libraries and it will be helpful to check out the various groups. There are archivists, catalogers, circulation, reference and several other groups.
